This is a must do!! It is a fabulous race which involves some self navigation and checkpoints! oh dear for amanda. The race starts and finishes in Rother Valley Country Park and involves running around Rother Valley, Treeton and Ulley lakes. Dont let the course description fool you into thinking it is flat!! it isn't with some testing steep climbs to put you in your place. Conditions were not bad warm but windy at times but at least the muddy bits were quite dry. 80% of the course was off road so the scenery was lovely. Water available at the checkpoints too with several marshalls around to help you on your way.......but no that wasn't enough for me like a sheep I went against what I thought and followed a fellow Totley runner the wrong way...this was at 13.5 ish miles and I WAS in the first lady by minutes!at this point, unfortunately this cost me minutes and my Holmfirth rival got in front before I got back to the point of getting lost..i pushed ahead but finished less than min ish behind for 2nd lady! gutting to say the least, my own fault I will get over it, the cold bath has just calmed me down anyway!! Fab race though it would be great to go as a team ....and the complementary cakes and tea at the end are to die for..there was every type of cake/bun you could think of..plenty too!! goody bag and finisher mug given. Well organised. will shut up now. AC x

A bit drier than last year! but, a good deal windier! Nine Striders tackled this little 15 miler, & some great performances ensued. The race was won by Dewsbury's Martin Hall in 1.39.25, first Strider home being Mark in 4th spot, & duplicating yesterday's efforts at Silkstone, Dan in 8th resulted in two Striders again in the top ten. Usually unlucky for some but on this showing I think he'd beg to differ, in 13th was Brookey who had a storming run & was heard to quote at the end, he would have beaten the 'Diggler' on this form! Also repeating her efforts from Saturday was Claire, finishing 3rd woman just behind Amanda from Tickhill who managed to get herself lost for two minutes & lost a comfortable lead! Following Mrs S home was Martyn, JohnnyMac & a great debut run from Nina who got stronger as the race wore on & passed runners all the way to the finish. Talking of first timers well done to Craige in his first 15 miler & not an easy one at that but he stuck at it & thoroughly deserved his 'cakes' at the end, which, as the saying goes 'were exceedingly good'! |

I've thought long and hard about how to improve and struggled to think of anything to be honest.
The most hairy part of the course was crossing the road just out of the woods near Treeton. i'm not sure what you could do about this. I'm not sure if you had the "CAUTION RUNNERS" sign's out but the cars did fly through there a bit fast. Again though, not sure what you could do about that.
I did this with my sister and mate from work. They both echoed my comments and thought it was a fantastic event. I've just seen my work mate today (Tuesday) for the first time since Sunday and he's still buzzing.

Really enjoyed yesterday's race, although I had no running in me and had to be content to plod round the course (just one of those days!). The marshalls, and everyone I spoke to, were friendly and encouraging and I will definitely enter again next year. And in terms of value for money, must be one of the best bargains around!! Well done Killamarsh Kestrels
Excellent course really enjoyed it will deffo be back next year!

Hi,
Just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who organised and marshalled the
3 Lakes Classic Race - everyone was very friendly and there what a great cake
stall at the finish. All in all a top race and I shall be back next year!
Thankyou

Hi
I really enjoyed the race yesterday. I mainly run road races so this
kind of race was new to me and although I was worried about getting
lost I didn't have any problems at all even when I running through the
woods all by myself!! The marshalls were great and really supportive
all the way round.
I thoroughly enjoyed it and will tell everyone at Wirksworth Running
Club about it for next year.
To my surprise I was 1st Lady Vet so does that mean that I won a
prize? As I wouldn't in a million years have expected to win a prize I
didn't stay for prize giving.
Will the prize be sent to me or should I have been there?
Regards
Steph
Hi there Thanks for a fabulous race this morning!! really enjoyed it but gutting for me losing my very good lead for first lady after going off track with another runner....will be back to do it properly in 2009 !! Just wondering if you can asterisk my result with 'lost' as I actually ran 15.54 miles!!! thanks it would make me feel better anyway. Cheers amanda x
