- 07/02/2012 North Lincs Half added to Calendar 6th May 2012
- 06/02/2012 Running is cancelled tomorrow night due to ice!
- 05/02/2012 I came up with the challenge as I was intending to enter a series of races throughout 2012 and wanted to tie them all together into one charity event. The name of the event is Beat the Clock 2012. There are different overall distances and target times to suit all levels, either 100k in 500 minutes, 50K in 5 hours or just 30K in however long it takes. The idea being the participant chooses the category they want to enter and they are added to our website, they can then update the site themselves after each race. There'll be a leader board for the fastest person in each category. The charities we are supporting are Breast Cancer Care, Alzheimer's Society & The Teenage Cancer Trust. We have a Virgin Page set up for sponsorship. Full details can be found on our website http://www.beattheclock2012.info/ The website has an online form for anyone who wants to get involved. Thanks Mark Hollis
- 31/01/2012 Hello from sunny Sydney, currently it's 30 degrees, blue skies and breezy. I've not had much success running, as it's too hot, I seem to melt after 4.5 miles. I have sold my soul to the devil and joined the gym, I managed 10K on the treadmill, which I think I deserve a medal for, as treadmill running is so BORING! I'm keeping out of mischief though doing pilates, spin and swimming. Kestrels look to be holding well in the cross countries, I do think about you all running in the cold and mud - shame I'm missing them this year! I've attached a photo of a '3 lakes classic' mug that has made it to Sydney (my boss did it in 2008), and gets used every night for tea, I think that must be the most travelled 3 lakes merchandise, unless you know better? Looking forward to running with the Kestrels again beginning of March. Jenny

- 22/01/2012 Good turnout today at the Killamarsh XC. Results posted.
Hi I'm from Clowne road runners and ran your cross country race today. It was my first cross country race. I just wanted to say how well marshalled I thought the course was and wanted to say a big thank you to all your marshals on the course who did their job brilliantly and cheered us all on along the route. Many thanks Deborah
- 21/01/2012 Fast access links to winter runs and calendar added.
- 21/01/2012 We hope your new season has started well and we would like to invite you and your members to run Boston and District Athletic Club`s Friskney Half Marathon on the 8th April 2012.
The course, we believe, is the flattest in the UK and is always run on the Sunday two weeks before the London Marathon.
The first event was run in 1983 when the winner was Dick Milne.
If you are running the London Marathon it is ideal for your final pre-London race if not come and try our event less than 10 miles from Sunny Bracing Skegness.
This year the race falls on Easter Sunday convenient for an Easter Break.
The route is all on rural quiet roads with experienced marshals and a friendly club atmosphere and never more than 3 miles from the start and finish.
There are changing facilities and hot showers available.
The Start and Finish are at the Village Hall.
Online entries are taken on the Runners World website.
Hope to see you on the day, many thanks for your help.
- 18/01/2012 Will all marshalls for the cross country this Sunday please meet at the Nethergreen pub for 10:00am. Please do not forget to bring buns or cakes for afterwards.
- 18/01/2012 Nottingham University Athletics Club is delighted to invite your club to take part in the 8th Ed Prickett Memorial Relays on University Park campus on Saturday 17th March 2012.
The long-running Nottingham relays were re-named in memory of Ed, a valued club member, after he was tragically killed in a road traffic accident whilst at the British Universities Track Championships in May 2004.
Proceeds from the event will go to the Ron Pickering Memorial Fund, a charity that supports young athletes and that Ed benefited from.
The day will kick off with the women's race (3x2 miles) at 1.30pm followed by the men (4x2 miles) at 2.30pm.
We hope you will then join us for the post-race presentation in the University Sports Centre/Highfields Park.
There will be prizes for the fastest legs and fastest teams as well as a professional photographer. Last year, over 200 people took part so this promises to be a wonderful day of competition for runners of all abilities. You will find the entry form and map included and further information can be found on the Facebook group 'Ed Prickett Memorial Relays'.
Alternatively, there is the NUAC website if you need to access a copy on line.
If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to get in touch. Yours faithfully, Jen Fernando and Dan Kennedy Home Fixtures Secretaries- Nottingham University Athletics Club

- 17/12/2011 Thank you so much for the card, flowers, bubbly and voucher you gave me at the Crown, it was a lovely surprise and made me quite emotional! I have made some great friends through the Kestrels, most I regard as my second family, and I even met my husband whilst running with the club. Killamarsh Kestrels is a great club and has a lovely atmosphere, mainly down to the leadership of Les and Mick, but not forgetting the committee who work very hard behind the scenes. I'm going to miss my Tuesday and Thursday night runs through winter, good luck for the Cross Countries, I'll be with you in spirit! Thanks again, Jenny -- Our pleasure Jenny. Good luck down under. We will be thinking of you (while were sat in the cold!!) from all the Kestrels.
- 17/12/2011 Committee meeting minutes posted on message board.
- 11/12/2011 A few photo's from the Percy Pud run last weekend HERE. Unfortunately the rest were rain damaged!
- 07/12/2011 This year the Kestrels are trying to help the planet and a worthy local charity Bluebell Wood. To do your bit all you need to do is to add you greetings to fellow Kestrels on the 'Christmas Greeting Board' instead of buying cards and contribute to our collection for Bluebell Wood. The 'Christmas Greeting Board' will be available every club night, at the Crown Buffet and the pub run night. Contributions can be given to any Committee member. We will even provide post-its and pens for you to use..........so come do your bit for the planet and support Bluebell Wood.
- 30/10/2011 Hi my name is Gillian Timms and I have a place in 2012 London Marathon!! I have done it once, in 2009 and as a few of you may remember I had a bad experience with my feet and although I completed it I was in a lot of pain, it was sheer determination to keep running and get over the finish line. Obviously, I would like to put this experience behind me by being able to do it again pain free. I have a tried and tested training plan (supplied by Les) and I am looking for someone to train with!!! I did all the training on my own last time and it wasn't easy. I know I'm probably clutching at straws here but if there's anyone out there who is willing to give up their time to train with me I would be absolutely delighted. You can get in touch with me at the club or by email. Thanks for taking the time to read this.
